The Gaming Giant Recruits Apex Legends Developer to Boost Troubled Hero Shooter Ambitious Title

The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Change Comes After Poor Response

Brinkman steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing early showing last autumn.

On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure updated team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the necessity for a distinct vision.

Ismailer noted that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to satisfy community desires.

Trend of Strategic Acquisitions

The news echoes a similar step taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Here is the full text from Ismailer's memo:

Dear Team—

I know you all just finished your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I shared you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most driven and talented designers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to persist.”

Given your hard work and adaptability, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The gamer responses from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was informative. It affirmed the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had work to do. It highlighted the necessity for a more distinct vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the feedback to mind and overhauled the title with a revitalized goal - one that’s ready to achieve its potential to our audience.

Our confidence in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To further the incredible progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome Ben Brinkman as the incoming Studio Head of the team. After some time of talks, he starts with us on Monday, October 20.

Ben’s leadership and experience in the PVP shooter field is vast, having spent the past decade and a half producing and leading some of the most well-known series in gaming, for example the acclaimed shooter, and lately, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in receiving him next week. We are all eager to continue observing the development of Project ETHOS in the time to follow.
